The Bay Area IAF is a broad based network of local institutions – congregations, synagogues, non-profits and civic associations – that serve as a foundation for public relationships, leadership development and action around issues that affect our communities. The Bay Area IAF is an affiliate of the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF), the nation’s oldest and largest leadership development and organizing network. The IAF bases its work on the idea that a healthy democracy requires the active participation of ordinary people.
There are two organizations comprising the Bay Area IAF – the Bay Area Organizing Committee (BAOC) and the Sacramento Valley Organizing Community (SVOC). Across these organizations, Bay Area IAF has an organizing cluster in Marin County called the Marin Organizing Committee (MOC), a cluster in Solano and Napa counties called Common Ground, and emerging clusters in Sonoma, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, and Yolo counties.
